In March 2010, "had" to get more rest we leave. We thought about where to fly this time of year is relatively cheap, but perhaps can dust off a bit of sun.
was chosen, after a short consultation at a travel agency in Mallorca. As the holiday should be fairly cheap, was left a hotel in Playa de Palma - we were skeptical at first, because this place is actually even more with Bravo and party brings here.
However, we chose the Hotel Oleander - the price was for 6 days with half board at 338 € per person.
We landed in the early morning hours on Mallorca - unfortunately, with overcast skies and cool 13 degrees, so that in the first moment arose not a real holiday feeling. This should not change the same day.
After about 15 minutes we reached the hotel, which was well maintained. Also: good location, quiet side street - all fine.
The room was clean, relatively small, and exactly as described in the prospectus. It promised, holding up his 3 ***.
We went to the balcony and gave us a first overview of the place. As might expect otherwise, is neither Playa de Palma, still visible in some distance El Arenal a special feast for the eyes. There are just artificially grown tourist locations in which joins a bed castle to the other.
The hotel can be reached in about 2 - 3 minutes walk to the beach promenade. This was really swept empty. It did have occasional open shops, but in any case, one could complain that this or any other day, there was scramble :-)
on the beach front we had the idea to us to borrow bicycles (6 € per day) and so a bit more to get around the area.
said than done - so we were soon seated on two bikes out and just drove towards it.
We discovered a short time later, a bike path that would lead in 16 km in the capital. Let's go!
The bike path runs through a really great drive-lining along the water in the Mediterranean metropolis. The fact that we had discovered no real secret, because we realized that we have many in-line skaters and other cyclists on our way followed or came toward us. The track is enjoying widespread popularity, but this is also perfectly understandable.
We parked our bikes just below the highly visible Cathedral and went out into the city.
Palmas city center with its narrow streets and beautiful houses, balconies and hidden shops, but also with the vibrant life and big city flair we liked really good!
afternoon there was finally released sunshine. From the moment we left the happiness is not everything and there was only one other morning when it was cloudy in the short term.
The next day we wanted to explore again the other way and made our way Llucmajor. We passed a place where you can catch a magnificent view of Palma.
Next was the ride ... the line was always more mountainous and the air running out. In short: when we are on a rise just cyclists outdated, we realized that we might with our wheels do not come quite as far.
We went way back and arrived back in Palma. This route was more us.
It should be mentioned incidentally, that it might not necessarily lay on our bikes - it passed us up a sprightly pensioner couple on the way to the rise. With the same Wheels as we do. But the practice had intended.
For the next two days, then we rented a car because we wanted a bit more exploring of the island. On the first day, the trip went in the (South) west of the island.
Port de Soller
Valdemossa
The next day we continue our tour and started east. This side of the island we liked better in person. We passed through beautiful places with great beaches (Cala d'Or were We especially nice!), visited markets in smaller towns, and discovered the wonderful nature of the inner country.
market day in Manacor
Cala d'Or
Hinterland just before Calogne
Now We stayed two more days, we wanted to use. On the penultimate day we were going to put us to the beach. Meanwhile, there were always around 20 degrees so that you could stand it wonderful. The beach at Playa de Palma was our time to travel very sparsely attended, so we were able to perform well.
The relevant known discos (Mega Park, Upper Bavaria) were still in their preparations for the large crowds in the summer and were not or only open sporadically. We could only catch glimpses of the outside, but what we also did not bother much.
What we have to mention at this point: on the promenade of Playa de Palma (ice cream parlor in "Pinocchio") we drank probably the world best milkshake ever. Each day a different, but delicious all the same!
The last day we use once more to ride our bicycles to Palma. Some ershoppte bags, shoes and clothes later we returned to the hotel one last time, the plane the next morning should start again soon and it was time to say goodbye to the island.
Our Rating:
The holidays have been very much! Mainly due to explore the possibility of using the bikes a lot and the beautiful towns and villages inside the country, and on the east coast of the island.
deductions are there for the clairaudience of the rooms in the hotel (there are things we did not even know other people!) and the Playa de Palma, who is not really nice. For this holiday this is not quite as heavy weight as we could do from there, great tours by bike and it was still very quiet.
