In May 2009 we were traveling in the Netherlands and have visited the zoo, among other things in Emmen, of which we had previously only heard good things. So we wanted to convince ourselves!
We have traveled by car and have at the zoo (so we thought) parked. As we entered the zoo, we wondered a little, how small he is ... we were namely landed in the "upper" new part - here are some new and big enclosure formed. The majority, however, are located in the small town of Emmen. From the top you get a great signposted walk through the city center in about 10 minutes to the "old" part, which you can enter with the same ticket. A great solution - especially because so always finds a parking area and can take a look at the city center.
is the top part (still) relatively small, but great enclosure houses - especially the penguins has impressed us because we pass directly on a walk to the caves can. Here's an idea of how the exhibits are set up - still looks great, right?
In this example, a vast savanna giraffes, antelopes and rhinos live together. But animals that are rather lonely, do not have it worse:
Even the Tiger feels light shade well:
especially like us have the cute prairie dogs that it could taste, and use the space to cuddle:
As in real life, here comes the best for last - the elephant. Here we stayed in glorious sunshine for almost an hour and observed the families. Because so many youngsters were there, we could see that at play. And the "elephant shower" was a highlight!
